Social activities

Participation in the various social activities provides networking opportunities and leadership experiences outside of client engagements. From monthly events like Friday In The Office (FITO) to annual events like London Cares, there are always opportunities to learn, socialise, lead, and enjoy the diverse experiences.

Kinabalu Challenge – Cancer Research UK
A.T. Kearney sent a team in February 2007 to compete in the Kinabalu Challenge-Adventure Race in support of Cancer Research UK.

The funds we raised for Cancer Research UK will help to complete the circle of A.T. Kearney's support of Research-to-Treatment – helping more people survive cancer.

The challenge, based in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, included a 4km run along a jungle river, a 6km bike ride, white water rafting, kayak relay race, a climb up Mount Kinabalu and several other challenges.

Team quotes:

  • “I have two reasons for doing the challenge: 1. I needed to get fit. 2. I lost my father to Cancer and this seemed a great way to raise some money for a worthwhile cause”.
  • “After completing 3 marathons in the past 4 years, I wanted a different physical challenge.  This is a great opportunity to race as a team rather than as an individual, meet new people, see a new country, get in good shape and raise some money for a charity, all at the same time.”
  • "Having spent the past couple of years having children (2 boys) I was looking for a challenge to motivate me to get fit again.  I love adventure travel and this seemed like a great trip.  Also, it seemed natural to support Cancer Research UK....I belong to the healthcare practice within A.T. Kearney, and we are doing quite a bit of work in cancer and, at the same time, I have many family members currently affected by cancer (my brother died last year of lung and brain cancer).  I hope we exceed our funding goal."
  • "Like the others on our team, I was looking for a new challenge to get fit, meet some new people and get involved in raising money for charity."

Action Painting
Action painting, sometimes called "gestural abstraction", is a style of painting in which paint is spontaneously dribbled, splashed or smeared onto the canvas, rather than being carefully applied. The resulting work emphasises the physical act of painting itself.

This past summer, several A.T. Kearney consultants boosted their creative juices and got together in Green Park for some action painting. The afternoon was a fantastic experience for all as not only did it facilitate interaction, but also provided “home grown” original artwork for our new office.

Friday In The Office (FITO)
As consultants, we spend a lot of time working at the client’s site. That’s why we make a point of having a Friday In The Office (FITO) on a regular basis. On the last Friday of ever month, consultants and support staff join together to share new experiences, recent successes, have a drink and catch up on all the latest news.

London Cares Day
We annually participate in the London Cares Day, an event where 200 companies from across London help out at schools and youth organizations across the Capital.

In the past events, our involvement included gardening, painting, cleaning, and building a mud pizza oven for the kids to create their own gourmet feasts. It is a great day out enjoyed by all, where Team A.T. Kearney puts 'tangible results' into action!
